choIces

I don't know how most feel about common law marriages. I personally think it's a way at avoiding fully committing to a person. Think about it, there's no real commitment just the passage of time that passes by. There's no effort, no commitment and no official outwardly choosing of wanting to be with only that person.  It becomes a relationship of convenience while keeping their options open unless, it's discussed and agreed upon by both people involved. Having that open option goes both ways. An actual commitment is a outwardly choosing of a person while closing the door on any other external options. So the common law marriage leaves the door open at keeping other options open. Personally the common law marriage is a scapegoat way to not fully commit to soneone. Being with someone out of convenience is not the same as intentionally chosing to be with someone.
