When we walked on the beach as the sun set, it felt like I found my home,

When first intertwined under the sheets, it made me feel desired,

When you held me in your arms like I mattered, it made me feel safe,

When you intentionally showed me love, it made me feel like I belonged,

Remember . . .

When you told me that I wasn't a priority, you never saw how my heart shattered,

When you turned as cold as ice, you left me feeling rejected, neglected and alone,

When you repeated the cycle again, you stomped my gift of love,

When you chose other worldly pleasures over me, you never saw me cry in the dark,

Remember . . .

I am not perfect so I don't expect perfect, I do require truth and honesty,

I poured so much love, time and affection, I just want reciprocity,

I showed so much respect for you, I will not stand to be disrespected,

I sacrificed for you, I'd do it again in a heartbeat,

Remember . . .

It isn't what you can buy, it's about how much of your self you're willing to give and sacrifice,

It isn't only having small talks, it's also having the deep emotional, painful and hard talks,

It isn't about only being physically present, it's also being emotionally, mentally and spiritually present,

It isn't about too much overthinking and overanalyzing, it's about listening to your heart.

Remember . . . Love isn't just taking a risk but a lifelong investment that requires consistency, loyalty and communication.
