Love that heals

I never thought that I would be able to open my heart to another but it’s amazing what the human heart is capable of. Have you ever given thought to what a heart does besides pump blood? It pumps the blood that has the components that can heal the body. My heart was broken many times over the course of my life, sometimes by people and at other times by circumstances. We can’t avoid the things that happen in life, I am a firm believer that everything happens for a reason and there’s a lesson to be learned in it as painful as that may be. Despite all the pain and brokenness my heart has endured, I never forgot how to love. I am also a firm believer of treat others as you would like to be treated. After my divorce I was scared to date given the world we currently live in. Someone peaked my interest and his bio was warm and inviting. I reached out and we hit it off. He doesn’t know it but he was the beginning of my healing process. Through his loss he showed me that it was possible to keep going and that there are people out there willing to take a risk at opening to another and sharing in happiness together. We both suffered a lot in life due to our own different circumstances. We persevered but not without our scars. It was hard for me to trust my heart to another, fear set in, fear of being hurt and disappointed again. Although I still see him struggle with his pain, he still was an inspiration to me because he took a chance. I’m not sure if for him it turned out how he thought but for me it was nothing that I expected. His love has cradled my heart and his patience has given me the room to grow and trust again. If he ever reads this I want to thank him for being a beacon of hope in my life, I hope that someday he’ll be free from his pain.
