thoughts, logic, common sense
Have you ever had a thought that you logically justify and overrides your common sense? Well, this seems to happen more often than I realized. Specifically, throughout my life I've seen this happen but I still can't wrap my mind around it. Now, being older and wiser, it's even more boggling. For instance, porn addiction, the porn addict justifies their viewing of it as just casual but it's actually an obession they cannot stop or control, this overrides their common sense. It overrides the common sense because there are no boundaries as to where or when you watch the porn. On top of that the porn addict might delve in sexual activities and it doesn't matter when or where, again in their mind the are logically justified thus, overriding their common sense. This lack of common sense is damaging because the obsessive thoughts leads them to logically choose that as intimacy instead of thei partner, this defies common sense. In itself watching porn recreationally isn't a problem, the problem comes in when it's used to replace an sexual intimatacy in a relationship. Another problem with it, it's a way for the addict to hide their actual feelings and uses it as an escape from reality. In essence, this is a self-sabotaging and a self-destructive behavior that will ruin the addict's life, relationships and corrupts the mind by changing the percption and expectations of what a healthy relationship dynamic should be . This type of addiction or any for that matter needs intervention by seeking counseling to help break the hold it has on them. Counseling would be a tool to help break those bonds that keeps people bound to their addictions.
