there is always a choice

What is it about an addiction that makes it hard to break that bond it has on someone. I believe it to be the desire to want to keep on with it because of how it makes them feel. Like a narcotic or alcoholic this bond goes deep down to the cellular level but it all starts with their desire for it. Just like the desire to keep on with it there is also a choice. A choice to continue or a choice to want to break away from that bondage. These addictions are not easy to break by sheer will power, intervention is needed by seeking counseling. The reason for counseling is because there is a deeper reason why sheer will power cannot break that bondage. A deep trauma, pain or betrayal that has deeply scarred by it and for this reason intervention is needed. Otherwise, the addiction takes over and leads the person into a self-destructive path of self and relationships. So many addicts say they have no choice, there is always a choice. A choice leading you to destruction or a the choice to free oneself from it's grip.
